Powerthon – A National Innovation Challenge for Power Distribution
Powerthon is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, launched under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). It aims to drive innovation, technology adoption, and startup incubation in the power distribution sector, addressing critical challenges faced by DISCOMs.

Launched on 7th February 2022, Powerthon 2022 focused on identifying and supporting Technology Solution Providers (TSPs) with innovative, tech-driven solutions for DISCOMs. Key Objectives:
Implementation Highlights: REC Limited served as the nodal agency in partnership with SINE, IIT Bombay.
Outcome: Powerthon 2022 successfully created a structured innovation framework and laid the groundwork for future initiatives like Powerthon 2024.
