REC Foundation receives ASSOCHAM award for 'Best CSR contribution in challenging aspirational districts'

Gurugram – REC Foundation, the CSR wing of REC Limited, has been recognized for its enduring commitment to Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) initiatives. These initiatives focus on the well-being and empowerment of differently-abled individuals. The Foundation has been honored with the "Best Contribution of CSR in Challenging Aspirational Districts especially for Divyangjan" award by the prestigious industry body, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

The accolade was presented during the 6th Annual Conference on Empowering Persons with Disability. Smt. Taruna Gupta, Executive Director, CSR, along with the REC CSR team received the award from Sh. Rajesh Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India.

The 6th Annual Conference on Empowering Persons with Disability provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss and collaborate on strategies for the inclusion and empowerment of differently-abled individuals. The conference highlighted the importance of corporate social responsibility in driving positive change and fostering an inclusive society.

REC has also been made the nodal agency for certain States and Union Territories for the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). It is also designated as the National Programme Implementation Agency (NPIA) for “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana” with aim to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity. The loan book of REC stands at ₹ 5.09 lakh crore and Net Worth at Rs. ₹ 68,783 crore as on 31 March, 2024.
